Very handy device for converting logic levels between devices. Note that these do have built in 10k pull up resistors so there's no need to add an extra pull up resistor. Adding an extra pull up resistor may introduce issues as the total pull up resistance is halved. The boards have a slight design flaw with the pitch of the header. They don't quite fit a standard breadboard but can be fixed with a little coaxing of the headers before soldering.

I'm using these to convert I²C between 1.8V from the Intel Edison to 3.3V for sensors. Initially I had lots of strange issues, losing contact with the devices randomly, but when I switched to a different kind of level converter (TXS0108E) it worked fine so it was definitely an issue with these. Since I had 5 of them I figured I might as well see if I could find the problem, and looking at the signal in an oscilloscope I found that the digital low didn't reach zero, at 1.8V it was maybe about 0.5V or less (I forget exactly) which is relatively fine, but at the 3.3V side it was right around 1.8V, which I reckon is too high to register as low in the slave. I figured it might have something to do with the 10k pullup resistors on the board, which I didn't need anyway since both ends already had pullups. After desoldering all the resistors it worked fine and low was at 0V as it should have been from the start. I'm not entirely sure what caused this behaviour, but at least it works now.

This is a reasonably priced logical level converter. It works, but the built quality is not perfect. PCB edges are rough and sharp, soldering also can be better. Still five stars, but not perfect.
