Callipers came covered in grime and metal filings. They turned on, which almost pushes the rating to a 2/5 in quality. Outside jaws are not parallel, which results in a difference of 0.34 mm between the tips and the inside of the jaws. Tips are misaligned to the point that a 1 mm wire fits between them when they are closed. Not a single straight line on this instrument. Lots of slack in the sliding jaw, depending on force the reading can vary up to 0.28 mm for the pair I got. Slide can't be adjusted since the brass screw for adjusting tension was split. Moving the slide feels like dragging a grand piano trough a gravel yard. They definitely are not hardened and can be carved with a scalpel blade without any damage to the scalpel. Repeatablility of zero reading (determined as standard deviation between 10 measurements) is 0.01 mm (0.02 0.02 0.010.01 0.03 0.01 0.01 0 0.01 -0.01). Accuracy is very poor: Properly "zeroed", the callipers give me a reading of 149.09 mm against the 150.00 mm of an actual quality instrument. 0.91 mm off at 150 mm is far beyond the specified +/- 0.03 mm. I have disposed of them.
