Bought this step drill mainly for the fact that it has 1mm steps - unlike most others that offer 2mm steps. The spiral flutes have one significant drawback: The tool grabs and pulls up the workpiece when breaking through from step to step, like a drill does. Something the straight fluted step drills avoid. Chip evacuation is not likely a problem for working on thin panels so I definitely recommend the straight flute step drills for better control. Other than that the tool is sharp and cuts well.
