Decided to replace the tail motor after a wire got damaged; but before ordering a replacement I tried using another motor of similar size. Recalling from memory I think the size is 6mm. It fitted the motor mount but severely lack thrust. So decided to order the original replacement and everything works fine now. I think the CC3D controller is very sensitive and is highly tuned to the stock setup without much margin of error. Nonetheless this motor is a perfect drop-in replacement.
