I bought this camera to replace a GoPro Hero 4 that I use on a FeiyuTech 3-Axis Gimbal mounted on a custom drone. It was frustrating attempting to control the camera mode and shutter via pwm RC signals on the GoPro it worked but it required a special Wi-Fi module that was not very reliable. So I did a lot of research and found the FireFly 8s with the optional RC cable (available on banggood) was a perfect fit for what I was looking for. 1. 4K 2. Controllable camera mode via RC PWM 3. Controllable shutter via RC PWM 4. Internal stabilization 5. Good image quality 6. No fish-eye lens After I received the camera and RC cable I installed everything to test it out. It was perfect!!! I was actually surprised by a cool feature that no one talks on reviews. The RC cable has a power wire that will allow the camera accept a 2S-6S battery input (It also works down to 5V) and when there is not power present (IE you unplug your drone battery) the camera will automatically shut off and turn it back on when you plug your battery back in. So you literally do not have to mess with the camera when your ready to fly. RC Shutter And Mode Control: The camera only requires 1 RC Channel to control the mode and shutter. I programmed mine on a 3 way switch on my transmitter (middle = off down = take a picture up = record video). And when viewing through goggles or a FPV display the OSD visible and indicates what mode you are in and if you are recording. I’m really happy with the purchase!

I opted for the 90 degree version as i wasn't keen on the fish eye effect i had seen on the 170 degree version in youtube reviews. unable to unbox/ test as this is a Christmas present and needs wrapping :)

Bardzo dobra kamera. Długo się zastanawiałem czy kupić nową czy nie. Mam GitUp Git2, ale ta zdecydowanie jest lepsza. Dużo lepszy obraz, w FHD nagrywa w 120 klatkach. Rewelacyjne slowmotion. W zestawie mnóstwo akcesoriów, o których nie napisano na stronie za co jeszcze większy plus się należy. Jeśli ktoś szuka kamerki sportowej, to na serio ten model jest baaardzo dobrym wyborem. Nice product for its price. The first 4K camera with 90 non-distortion AND RC control/video output. (some action cams don't offer video output at all and thus are unsuitable for drone use)I have yet to figure out how to operate the camera. Ordered it because my former SJ9000 had no provision for external video/control connections and a square area was totally black,Also, its distortion was too huge to allow drone video taking. indicating CMOS failure from the beginning. This one works correctly. The flash is somewhat tricky to install; the upper side should face to the right hand side when looking to the LCD screen. Be sure to turn power OFF by pulling out the battery when installing/pulling out the flash or the flash will be damaged. The manual is too small and illegible. I will have to put together a new manual after I find out how to use this. Be sure to use lens protection film as drone crash or hard landing might destroy the lens. A replacement lens should be available together with DETAILED instructions how to replace the lens. (Nowadays, the lenses of action cams cannot be replaced and any attempt will destroy the camera, as I learned the hard way) Besides: Do not use the old Jiyi gimbals which were sold here as their roll axis does not work(thus I and many others lost money) . I have ordered a Hakrc gimbal with Storm32 controller as a replacement.
