Filling was straightforward, up and down, rather than the screw type. The cap closes with a satisfying 'click' which I like. As for writing, I wish that my handwriting could do the pen justice! It writes beautifully, in any direction, with no scratching or hesitation. A truly excellent product and well deserving full recommendation.
