Although there's plenty of mortising jigs around these days, this one's quite innovative and gets the job done fairly straightforwardly once you have it set up for the particular size and depth of your traditional tenon or joiner type. This tool is particularly suited to loose tenon joinery. This generally means that you need to use a good quality spiral compression bit that is properly matched with the joining type being used. However, I'd recommend clamping the jig to the work surface, face or edge as needed, which takes away the possibility of movement away from your centre line while holding that black handle and frees up a hand for more precise control of the lateral length and vertical depth movements. Futile to compare this to a Festool Domino of course given the difference in initial cost; what you need to focus on here is the finish achieved. And that is absolutely comparable and positive creating a tight-fitting mortise with crisp clean edges and a flat bottom. Critical issue then is the bit length so that the desired depth of cut can be achieved. I'm assuming the available cut adjustments will suit all the common domino sizes. No tear-out, especially if you're using a good spiral compression bit that keeps both top and bottom of mortise precise and neat. You'll be using a bit less than 25.4mm (one inch) diameter in this application so the manufacturer recommended speed would be around 24000rpm. That's about 4 or 5 on my 6-speed compact router. Accepts any 65mm compact router body and includes its own adjustable transparent router base. Not really that pricey considering the cost of that other green machine and similar jigs.
