What a wonderful little engine! I've always had a fascination for hit and miss engines and bought my first model - a Retrol Musa HM01 - last year as a kit. I saw the M17 on one of the HM01 forums and I just had to get one. An online search led me to Bangood, and with the new customer discounts and a coupon code from Ade Swash's M17 video the price was perfect. Delivery was supposed to be early to mid May, however it arrived in just over a week, faster than a lot of stuff from the UK! It was well packaged, however a couple of the screws securing it to the base had come loose and one nut was missing, not really a problem as I have replaced all the nuts with Nylocks so they don't come loose again. It really is beautifully made, and the green gives it a vintage look. I gave it a full check over making sure everything was secure, installed the batteries and checked for a spark. I liberally applied oil to all the moving parts, then added some water to the coolant tank. I had some fuel already mixed so I filled up the tank and primed it through then she was ready to go. It took just three hand spins to start her, then adjusted the needle so she started to lean out then backed it off, about two turns open. She runs very well, I'll likely play around with the latch mechanism and the timing to slow her down a bit, but no real need as she purrs along nicely. She's the perfect stablemate for my HM01, the two of them running together is music to my ears! If you're considering buying this then don't hesitate - you won't be disappointed :)
