Drachnien Ihate to say this but you don't have to cut anything. you attached the light to the mount backwards. if you mount it the other way around it folds flat without issue.
Q: will this get overheated even with 2A out?

Drachnien the regulator gets up to about 104c but it's rated for up to 125c
