Q: can i use this for like a cb to listen in on other truck driver in the united state

SirVolta No. Not unless those truck drivers are ham radio operator using the 2M and 70cm ham bands. CB works on 27MHz while this transceiver works on 136-174MHz and 400-520MHz. Handhelds for 27MHz CB do exist, but are quite rare. Mostly due to the large antenna required for that frequency that would be quite annoying on a handheld. Also note that at least in Europe you need to have a amateur radio license to even own this radio if it is ready to transmit (battery and antenna installed or near the device). I do not know about the US, but it is still something to be aware of. So if you just want to listen, get a wide band scanner.

SWR was more then 1:3 on 2M at first. The antenna was too long and there was not enough adjustment room just using the screws. After sawing a piece off everything is good. SWR below 1:2 on 144 to 146 and 430 to 440. All in all I am very pleased with the size and performance of the antenna. Maybe the extra effort was needed because of the small roof of my car.

All hams I have spoken to complained about the sound quality. Audio level (modulation) is weak and it sounds muffled, hollow and distant. Maybe there is a modification that I could do to make it better, like changing a resistor or capacitor, or drilling a bigger hole in front of the mic. Or maybe stuffing the insides with cotton wool to combat the hollowness. But in the mean time it is useless for me. The UV-5R internal mic sounds much better. The built-in speaker is good enough though. If only the mic was better.

Even at 3A this cable drops less than 0.2V! That is really good and ensures that the device will charge at the best speed possible. No connection issues or intermittent connection. Only negative is that it is a bit inflexible (maybe this will get better over time) and that it is REALLY solid in the connector which can make it hard to remove without damaging the micro usb port.
