Q: how does one connect/use the plastic part in 3/4 or 1/2? I am looking at it having received that but I do not know how to connect that in a proper way. The alternative would be to go straight to the black part but of this I do not know the dimension... thanks for any help

It seems all good. The spring is relatively strong considering the size of this switch. Not tested electrically so far... The size is the right one. One small remark: the metallic tongue is a single inserted piece. It does not have the two side ears holding around the plastic bit/stud...
