Mine is actually a ZS-040 (HC05) so uses a different AT command syntax AND the rx/tx pins are labelled in reverse. Beware: you could receive either. Connect at 9600 baud, if it doesn't respond, reverse the rx/tx and try again. Then use AT+version to confirm if you have the HC06 or the Zs-040!!! Then use the appropriate AT commands for your version. End of the day it does the job, but maybe the above will save someone the 4 hours of hassle that I went through!!
