I have both the SP32 and the SP32a V2.0. The SP32 uses a natural white which I really like vs the SP32a V2 which uses a cool white bulb. While both use the XP-L2 bulb, the SP32 comes in at 1500LM vs about 1350LM for the SP32a V2. No idea why, but the SP32 does seem just a bit brighter. The one thing I don't like about the SP32, is the switch has a very soft spring which means it's going to turn on in you pocket fairly easily. You can click it 4 times to prevent it from doing so, but then you have to click it 4 times to be able to turn it back on, or turn the cap a half turn. Both are great flashlights.
