I am pleased to see these are good sturdy looking brake blocks. They look like they will work many times better than the overpriced superslim (read that as - "no brake material on them") equivalents we get here in NZ.

The FPV shadow has some good features and some really annoying design problems. The good things are the aerodynamic design is pretty good. This plane zips along quickly and is easy to launch. The ESC, motor, propeller selection are good, giving the plane a good climb rate and turn of speed. Most of the time it can cruise nicely at about 30-40% throttle. The FPV transmitter is a nice little unit that gives a glitch free signal around a decent size park (200-300m). It is structurally sound and takes the knocks. Setting the plane up was relatively easy, although I needed to cut some of the foam in places to fit enough cables as well as fit the receiver, and the FPV transmitter. Balancing the plane required more weight than the instructions suggested. On the downside there are a few things that could be better. The most significant is the fact that landing almost invariable rips the motor mount off the plane. Because the prop continues to turn when gliding in to land, it gets caught on the grass and gets so much leverage it breaks the plywood or breaks the prop. There are two ways to fix this. Either supply a motor that includes a prop saver or a better solution is to supply a spinner and folding prop together with an ESC with a brake. This later solution would ensure the prop is folded back out of the way when it slides along the ground on landing. I soon found that the cooling for the video transmitter was inadequate. After all the transmitter is sitting in an insulated recess with its cooling surface away from the airflow. I added a heat sink and cut some channels to allow air to get to the cooling fins. Since doing this I have had no problems. A better solution would be to supply a video transmitter with the aerial connection around the other way so the heat sink surface is towards the air. The servo horns provided with the kit were a pain. They were nice and easy to install but would quickly work themselves off. I remedied this by drilling a hole through the tab and putting a small pin through to prevent the retainer from releasing. So, on the whole its OKish, but some features that are very poorly selected.
