With the Smart port there is no need for the sensor hub because Smartport enabled sensors can be daisy chained to each other and then connected directly to a Smartport receiver, in my case an FrSky X8R VII. $18.99 is nothing to pay, considering what it will cost you when your model crashes because of low battery
